About Katie Robins

Radical Empathy Mapping a New Way Forward
Katie was born and raised in Kokomo, Indiana, the youngest of five children. Her father a radio designer and mother a bus driver, but much of her childhood was spent in nearby Marion with family. These were some of her best childhood memories, and today, Katie proudly calls Marion home. Continuing a family connection that spans generations.
After graduating from Kokomo High School in 2015, Katie attended Indiana University Kokomo to pursue a career in nursing, driven by a desire to serve others. During her final year of nursing school, she welcomed her son, an experience that shaped her perspective both personally and professionally. Raising a child as a single parent deepened her understanding of the challenges many working families face and strengthened her commitment to advocating for policies that support families and children.
Katie began her nursing career in 2020 in the Intensive Care Unit as the COVID-19 pandemic reached Indiana. Working on the front lines of healthcare, she witnessed firsthand the impact of limited resources, misinformation, and the growing barriers many Hoosiers face in accessing affordable care. She has cared for patients from all walks of life. Individuals forced to delay care due to cost, families facing financial hardship after medical emergencies, and patients whose health outcomes were shaped by access to basic medications and preventive care. These experiences reinforced her belief that Indiana’s healthcare system is in need of practical, people-focused solutions.
For far too long, we have had people sitting in the halls of power making decisions for us that don’t truly represent us. Katie’s decision to run for office comes from these lived experiences. Everyday Hoosiers deserve representation from leaders who understand the realities families face, because they have lived them too. Katie is running to be a relatable voice for the people of District 31. Advocating for working families, accessible healthcare, and a future where communities like ours continue to thrive for generations to come.
We would be so humbled if you take the time to reach out, volunteer, donate, or just give words of encouragement to our fellow Hoosiers.
